Concert Posters and Materials

I have a long history of collaborating with amateur orchestras and choirs

My biggest clients of late have been the orchestras Jyväskylän Salonkiorkesteri (JSO) and Jyväskylän Puhallinorkesteri (JPO), amateur orchestras that can play music of all styles.

Below you may see some examples of the variety of styles I use in my designs, drawn in Adobe Illustrator.

Movie Music Concert Series

Perhaps my most consistent series

JSO and JPO collaborated in making one big orchestra, in order to perform familiar tunes from famous movies. I took iconic elements from these movies and incorporated them into eye-catching posters and banners.

Instructional video on urban runoff for HSY. Most assets not drawn by me, simply animated, apart from the intro. I created the music from a collection of loops. I would have timed the video differently had I known there would be a voice-over added later on!

A video for Jyväskylän Salonkiorkesteri and Jyväskylän Puhallinorkesteri, inspired by the intro sequence of the 90’s movie Total Recall. Part of the Movie Music 3 concert at Yläkaupungin Yö.

Details

Made with After Effects. I had null layers to move each group of objects and to control different properties in unison, such as fade-in and fade-out, blur, levels, drop shadow and tint. Text is softened by first blurring the text and then crushing the alpha levels to bring it back into focus.

Animating with particles

I used After Effects’ Particle World effect to create a smoke effect, with slider controls and wiggle expressions for the particle birth rate, velocity and the producer’s position.

Simple template tests made for fun. May be used in Premiere Pro through the Essential Graphics Panel. All colors, text and sizes are editable.
